| Messages to the Family |
 |
Pat and Family,
My elderly father and I met Don and Pat just a month ago when Don took the time to give us a tour of "his" HOF. Don even went out of his way to bring us over to the lake to see more hockey nostalgia from the 30's & 40's. Don's sudden passing comes as such a shock to all of us out here in the East. Don and Pat were both very hospitable and with meeting Don just for that one day I know the entire state has truly lost "one of a kind". Our condolences from the Sweeney family out in Massachusetts.

The hockey community is saddened by the death of Don. He was a stalwart. Don was a team player and strongly supported ice hockey where ever it happened. Most recently a driving force involving USA Hockey's pond hockey tournament. Don's advice and counsel will be missed and our prayers go out to his family.

Dear,Kohlman Family,
I can only imagine what you are going through right now! I just wanted all (your family) to know that I am thinking of all of you. Don (spare dad at times with the Huettl family, we would cart each family around from state to state) was always hilarious, not including Jimmer (just kidding Jim and P.J.). My prayers are with all of you, take good care. Your friend David Huettl from the North East.

Don was a wonderful man, an outsanding coach, and a role model. I feel fortunate to have been one of his players. I hope I have passed on the same love for hockey that he instilled to my own son and to the players I have coached over the years. Our prayers are with you.

We will miss Don so much. I know the void left in Wisconsin Hockey will never be filled. Don was always such an upbeat person, I remember talking with him so many times when things were just not right, He was always upbeat and made me feel like going on and continuing with all the hockey things in our life.
He will be forever missed by the Stebbeds family. You can be so proud of all the people he helped and the wonderful things he did for hockey. I am at a loss for words, sometimes when someone so good passes, it is just best to remember in silience the great person he was and then never forget him.

Don was a very special guy. He was not only dedicated to the sport of hockey but was dedicated to the individuals that participated in it.... on and off the ice. It was personal to him and he showed this everyday. He touched many lives in such a profound way... showing and realizing all that hockey (a game) can bring to the many people involved in it. Thank you Don. We love you and will miss you.
