Bernard “Bernie” Rottscholl, age 91, passed away peacefully with family at his side on January 13, 2020, at Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac, WI after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

He was born on July 26, 1928 in Fond du Lac, WI to Frederick and Gladys (Dignin) Rottscholl. He served as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army for the 57th Medium Tank Battalion during the Korean War.

On April 16, 1955, Bernie married Audrey Kentop at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.

He was employed as a pressman at the Fond du Lac Reporter for over 40 years.Bernie enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, watching sports, especially golf, the Wisconsin Badgers and the Chicago Cubs, as well as trips to the casino.

He treasured his morning coffee at Boda’s, Tuesday morning breakfast at Schreiner’s with his pals, his walks through Pick-N-Save on Pioneer Road, and the many friends he made from each. He was a lifetime member of St. Patrick’s/Holy Family Catholic Parish.

Bernie is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Audrey; children, Fred Rottscholl, Paul (Eileen) Rottscholl, Carol (John) McArdle, Patty (Mike) Forsyth and Jim (Heidi) Rottscholl; grandchildren, Jourdan (Ben) Jacobs, Kassy (Nick) Person, Casey McArdle, Erin Forsyth, Becky McArdle, Shawn McArdle, Jamie Jo (Jamie) Mielke and Allie Noble; eleven great grandchildren, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.

Bernie’s family will greet friends and relatives for a time of visitation on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 S. Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac, from 10:00 AM to the time of service.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM. Burial will be in Spring at St. Charles Cemetery.

Bernie’s family extends their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff and volunteers of SSM (Agnesian HealthCare) Hospice Home Care and Hospice Home of Hope for the compassionate care he received during his illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hospice Home of Hope in Bernie’s name.
