Obituary for Michael R. Scheer

After 63 years I can finally use my Heavenly voice, to tell a little of my life story. My name is Michael Robert Scheer but everyone always called me, “Mikie.” I passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at St. Agnes Hospital.

I was born on January 25th 1957. The doctors called me a miracle because I wasn’t supposed to see my first birthday. I was born with many disabilities like my first surgery to correct my skull at just a week old. All my life I couldn’t speak, feed myself or function at my age level. That didn’t make any difference to my loving mother or father, and big sister who was always there to protect me.

Now that I have the opportunity to speak, let me tell you about myself. I loved music! Especially at the Calvary Bible Church where I was an honorary member and would stand with arms at full speed to direct the choir as the spirit led me. Sometimes my spirit even moved Pastor Ken!

The guitar was my favorite musical instrument. I played to whomever would sing and applause was always expected. After my performance, my audience could expect a bow from me.

Oh my! It can’t go without saying I adored my “Kir-Ploopers” made from any scraps of paper or rubber bands with bells.

I loved life and people. I enjoyed my time at the ARC and danced a jig when the bus driver came.

In my youth I attended James Ottis School for people with disabilities. My most recent residence was at the Lori Knapp Group Home, with my extended family. With much thanks and love to Sweetness, Consuela, Dominique and Heather. They will remember my legacy with a smile.

I am beyond happy to be in Heaven with my mom Audrey Agnes Ford Scheer, my dad Robert Fredrick Scheer, older brother Richard Eugene Scheer, along with other family members preceding me in death: Grandma and Grandpa Ford, Grandma and Grandpa Scheer, Uncle Don Scheer, Uncle Bruce McMurry and Aunt Joan Scheer.

I am also blessed by the untiring and devoted love of my Aunts Betty, Virginia and Jeanette Scheer, who preceded me in death. They filled my life with love, joy and contentment for many years.

I am so grateful for all the family members who are still on Earth who love me, my big sister Dianne Messer; my favorite big “brother” Rob Messer; my niece, Bobbi Messer, and her sons Zakkery Thompson and Jordan Widder; my nephew, Charles (Anita) Conn and their sons, Johnathan, Brenden and Jackson; my nephew, Jon (Heather) Conn and their son, Colton; Aunt Patricia Ford-McMurry, Aunt Jean Scheer, Uncle Gene, Uncle Tony “Doc” Leonard and so many cousins who will stay close to my heart.

Private family services will be held and burial will be in St. Matthew’s Cemetery in Campbellsport. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Arc of Fond du Lac.

I offer a special thank you to Lakeland Care, Kay Vande Zande at Community Alternatives and the doctors, nurses and staff at Agnesian Health Care and St. Agnes Hospital.

A ‘special’ gift from God and me,
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.
I made it Home. My life has been full.
I know my Lord and Savior.
My Love to you all through eternity,
Mikie Scheer
